Position Summary

Piko Provisions seeks a Sales & Product Merchandiser, hungry to make a change in our local food system by helping to execute our in-store and in-person community sales and impact initiatives. This person will be responsible for coordinating and executing merchandising activities and special events to maximize community impact and achieve goals for the organization.

To be successful as a Sales & Product Merchandiser, you should be able to build pilina (relationship, connection) and extend aloha with people from all walks of life. You should demonstrate excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills. Ultimately, a top-notch Sales & Product Merchandiser should have an understanding of marketing and sales strategies and tactics for both traditional retail markets (grocery stores) and through direct to consumer channels. The majority of the internal communication will be with Piko Provisions CEO, branding agency and internal sales and marketing members.

Preferred skills and qualifications

  • Food and beverage consumer packaged goods company experience required – startup preferred
  • Experience in organizing and having run special events (farmers markets, sporting activities, product demos, food shows, trade shows, etc.)
  • Retail store shelf and point of sale merchandising experience
  • Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and customer relationship management (CRM) tools such as airtable, mailchimp, klaviyo, and hubspot including providing detailed notes regarding each event, vendor/service provider and activity related to the position responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of product marketing through retail grocery channels.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, relationships management and presentation skills. Clear communicator, both verbally as well as in written form
  • Meaningful, pre-existing and current relationships with outside vendor/service provider community
  • Self-starting, motivated entrepreneurial business orientation
  • Thrives in a startup environment but is also comfortable in a more corporate setting
  • Strong sense of job ownership coupled with a solid team/collaborative work style and orientation

Job Duties

  1. Plan meetings, events, conferences, and trade shows by identifying requirements, establishing contacts, executing on schedules and assignments, and coordinating communication lists including providing pre-event, onsite and post-event logistical support and coordination.
  2. Execute on all special events related initiatives in order to effectively achieve their specific objectives. This includes identifying and recommending specific events and activities, managing all aspects of these events, both in advance and onsite, and then following up after the events as well.
  3. Ensure that all marketing efforts serve immediate and long-term business goals by identifying and recommending improvements for processes, content, lead generation. Work closely with internal Piko Provisions team as it relates to developing and implementing additional marketing strategies, as well as refining the tactics and improving execution as it relates to marketing the Piko Provisions brand
  4. Actively and continuously seek new opportunities for sales growth and community building
  5. Build knowledge and education regularly through workshops, research, and seminars, and share best practices and local marketing tactics with team members
  6. Compile market research, forecasts, competitor analysis, campaign results, and consumer trends. Conduct research of market trends, customer behavior, and competitor landscape, and prepare reports by analyzing and summarizing data
  7. Prepare activity reports and metrics for program success
  8. Communicate campaign objectives, timelines, and deliverables to sales team, and provide instructions for usage and promotion
  9. Maintain inventory of sales support materials, ensuring all are current and accurate, and coordinate the creation of new materials when necessary

The Sales & Product Merchandiser will also be expected to follow Company procedures in terms of timely communication with the HR, Accounting and Operations personnel as it is appropriate.
