Piko Provisions seeks an Operations Specialist, hungry to make a change in our local food system by helping our operations to run smoothly, effectively, and ensure the highest quality food goes out to our community. This person’s objective will be to lead or assist in inventory management, order fulfillment, shipment and delivery, product manufacturing and preparation, and overall operational efficiency and improvement.
To be successful as an Operations Specialist, you should be committed to improving customer experiences and able to ensure operational efficiency. Ultimately, a top-notch operations specialist should have excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
Operations Specialist Responsibilities
- Execute day-to-day fulfillment operations to include order fulfillment - both online retail and wholesale, and order shipment and/or delivery
- Warehouse and inventory management
- Load, transport, and unload cases of finished goods from manufacturing site to warehouse/storage site.
- Assist in product production and manufacturing by ensuring proper and sufficient inventory and supply are on-site at the manufacturing facility in a timely manner. This includes product packaging and ingredients.
- Experience or comfortable with outward customer/client/vendor/supplier interactions - answering questions, making and taking requests, and resolving issues
- Ensuring products and services comply with local, federal, and global regulatory, quality, and food safety standards.
- Ingredient processing
- Assist with operational administrative tasks such as sales orders, receiving, purchase orders, and invoicing
- Routinely check select physical store stock levels and resupply as needed
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
Operations Specialist Requirements
- High school diploma/GED required.
- Associate’s or Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, management, or a similar field preferred
- Food and beverage consumer packaged goods company experience preferred, but not required – startup preferred
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with CRM systems, and project management tools
- Decision-making skills.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to evolve, grow, and adapt with the company
- High sense of self awareness and responsibility
- Keen attention to detail required
- Preference given to candidates who hold certification as a Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) and/or other food safety relevant certifications
- Understanding of local/regional agricultural processes, infrastructure, challenges and networks is a plus but not required
- Deep sense of fostering community
- The ability to routinely lift, move, and transport cases weighing 20-30 lbs and must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must possess valid drivers license and reliable transportation
- The ability to safely drive larger vehicles (cargo vans, box trucks etc) as needed
- Forklift Certification useful, but not required
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Must be able to pass a drug screening prior to employment
